Leeds Met Walking Club offers you much more than the usual university club. One of the largest of its kind, it's renowned for its friendly mix of both UK and International students. We meet for great socials, weekend trips and day walks, visiting parts of the country you may never have seen. We welcome walkers of all abilities, so everyone can get involved. We organise around 8 weekend trips a year, which are the perfect antidote to university stress. We take you to places like the Lake District, Snowdonia in Wales, and Ben Nevis in Scotland. The cost of around £35 covers weekend accommodation as well as all food and transportation. We generally leave Becketts Park at 6pm Friday, returning between 7-10pm Sunday (depending on the destination). The weekend trips include a number of different walks for various abilities. We try to cater for everyone and gear the level of the walk to the members on the trips. Nobody will be forced to scale mountains, but if you're up for a challenge, we'll try to provide it!
Our regular Day Walks allow you to explore the beautiful countryside we have in our region. These walks tend to be of a fairly easy/medium level, catering for all abilities. They tend to be leisurely, and provide a great opportunity to meet other club members and enjoy the local countryside.
Club members also meet up for regular social events and activities, from bowling, to skiing to pub-crawls. These are often organised at the last minute, so keep an eye on the website and check your e-mails regularly for all the latest events.
Everyone is welcome to our regular Club Social (whether a member, or just curious!) – every Tuesday night from 8pm in Arcadia Ale and Wine Bar, Otley Road, Headingley.
