Taxis

Finding the phone number of a local taxi service is a good idea when planning your night out. Taxi drivers tend to want money for their services, which can be a problem if you have spent all that you had or if, worse still, someone has blagged your money whilst you were busy enjoying yourself.

Student Unions (SU) often have an arrangement with a student-friendly taxi firm who will accept your student union card as a solution if you find yourself at they paying end of a taxi ride with insuffient money to pay. The deal is often that the SU pay the taxi firm and you pay the SU.

Beware of doing deals with taxis drivers where you give them your mobile phone in the belief that you will get it back, in exchange for the fare, the day after when you can pay them. You may be lucky and not have a problem, but you may find that you cannot trace the driver when you go to get your phone back.
