Staff Development Festival
From TheStudentWiki
It was a great pleasure to hear the first keynote of the Research day at the staff development festival. It was refreshing to hear the speaker encourage openness and honesty in research rather than compliance which is a major problem for all of us seeking funding and trying to investigate important or controversial issues in pre-ordained power structures. Compliance is sometimes conscious, sometimes unconscious but it is a very dangerous if we really desire turth and honesty in our understandings of the world.
Some of the other events were also very helpful. Phil Race ran a session on gettting published which was very helpful not only in terms in telling participants what journal editors want but also how to begin the writing process.
