How did this wiki start?

Innovation North volunteer students, have gone beyond their student boundaries to help colleagues in the University to develop the Student Wiki. This website, based on the collaborative software that powers [Wikipedia], is expected to become a key resource for matters related to student life. A unique feature of a wiki is that the content is produced and edited by the users of the system. The beta-test version of the Student Wiki went live at the same time as the Freshers' Festival in September 2006. It is currently only available to Leeds Met students. The site is being launched on 6th February, 2007. A series of podcasts are released which explain all about the wiki. These are being broadcast over the fornight leading up to the launch date. A Student Wiki developer commented: “This project has given me the opportunity to do something extra to benefit my learning and to benefit students as a whole. I have really enjoyed the project. My main contributions were the building of the prototype system and using the wiki as a repository for the management of the project.”
